Monitoring and characterisation of flames plays an important role in the in-depth understanding of energy conversion and pollutant formation processes and subsequent combustion optimisation in power generation industry. Current practice of flame monitoring is limited to indicate whether the flame is present or absent for safety purpose only. Advanced techniques are required to provide online and non-intrusive monitoring and characterisation of flames. Substantial research has been carried out at the University of Kent to develop a vision based technology for monitoring and characterisation of flames. This presentation presents an overview of recent developments in the 2-D and 3-D flame imaging techniques.
主讲人简介:
Dr Lu received a BEng degree from Central South University, Changsha, China in 1982, and a PhD degree from the University of Greenwich, UK in 2000. He started his career as a mechanical engineer, serving for the iron- and steel-making industry in China, and had been a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent. He is now a Senior Lecturer in Electronic Instrumentation with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, University of Kent. His research interests include sensors, instrumentation, measurement, condition monitoring, digital signal processing, digital image processing and applications of artificial intelligence. He has been involved in a range of projects on advanced monitoring and characterization of flames in both lab- and industrial-scale fossil-fuel combustion systems. Dr Lu is a Chartered Engineer, a senior member of IEEE, and a member of the Energy Institute. He was awarded the Engineering Innovation Prize (Energy) by the IET in 2006.
