报告题目:Passive and active stress wave techniques for condition monitoring of concrete structures 报告人:Thomas Schumacher 报告时间:2018年4月4日(周三)上午10:00 报告地点:仰仪中楼501室 报告内容:The presenter will first give an overview of his research interests. He will then explain what passive and active stress wave techniques are, what their applications and limitations are for condition monitoring of concrete structures, and provide some real-world application examples. Finally, opportunities for further research to advance their use will be presented. 报告人简介:Thomas Schumacher, PhD, PE, Associate Professor, Portland State University, U.S.A Thomas Schumacher is currently an Associate Professor in the field of Structural Engineering,Portland State University. His primary research interest involves the development of new sensing methodologies for non-destructive testing (NDT) and structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil infrastructure. In particular, he is interested in seismology-based approaches such as moment tensor inversion (MTI) to analyze acoustic emission (AE) data from concrete fracture. These approaches aim to quantify and classify ongoing fracture processes in a material. Additionally, he collaborates with faculty at the University of Delaware to develop a novel distributed carbon nanotube (CNT)-based sensor. Furthermore, he is interested in video-based monitoring approaches. These have several advantages in that they can be applied remotely and offer a full-field view of the structure. He has published more than100 fully-refereed high quality journal and conference papers.
